The Kaneshie District Court Magistrate, Oheneba Kuffour, has ordered the prosecution trying the Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency, to file all disclosures and serve same to the defence to expedite the case.
The case against the Human Rights lawyer, Francis-Xavier Sosu was filed following a demonstration he led his constituents to embark on, concerning poor road network in the La-Kwantanang Municipality.
The MP was charged for “unlawful road blockade” and causing destruction to public property during the demonstration.
However, appearing before the court on Monday, February 7, 2022, the Magistrate told the Prosecution led by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Slyvester Asare, to make the document available since the MP has been granted a self-recognisance bail.
Speaking to journalists after court, the lawyer for the accused person, Kwadwogah Adawudu told the media they are ready but seems the prosecution who dragged his client to court, is not ready to start the trial.
He said after the court took the MP’s plea and granted him bail, “we believe that they [Prosecution] should go ahead to bring whatever charges against us. We think we have a rock-solid case, so let them bring the disclosures. Once they file the disclosures, we’ll know the basis of the crime,” said the lawyer.
The case has, however, been adjourned to Mach 14, 2022.
