Some eye witnesses who spoke with Angel News’ Nana fynn said that there was no space for the fire tenders to access into the market.

“Someone called to inform me the market was burning and when we came the place was in flames. Many stores have been destroyed but if there was access route for the fire vehicles to enter the fire wouldn’t have extended and caused much damage.”

The Western Regional Minister, who is also acting as the MCE for Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah in an interview with Nana fynn said the situation is a sad one.

“We had to mobilize more fire tenders to come and join the Ghana National Fire Service. It’s too early to aportion blame but the Fire Service and NADMO will do assessment of what actually caused it and find out those who are affected.”

He added that the assembly as a matter of urgency will ensure the reconstruction of the affected stalls within this week.
