A victim of road accident at Trom, a suburb of Somanya, has been pronounced dead on Tuesday May 24, 2022, Yilo Krobo Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Andrews Anyani has said.

The victim, male, whose identity is yet to be established by the police in the region, was involved in the unfortunate incident with three others in the evening of Monday, May 23, 2022 at about 7:30pm.

According to one of the victims, Philip Teye, the sad incident occurred between a Kia truck with registration number AS-1965 R–which they were onboard–and a tipper truck that joined the Somanya-Dodowa highway from the Trom junction.

He said the tipper truck crossed their path, and in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision with it, the Kia truck ran into the pedestrian on the side of the road, leaving him in critical condition–and now deceased.

Mr. Teye continued that they the occupants of the Kia truck sustained injuries when the vehicle further ran into a nearby tree and overturned.

According to him, they were returning from Winneba, Central Region, after a mango trade when the unfortunate incident happened.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue of Atua Government Hospital in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, where the victims were sent for treatment.
