The Ministry of National Security has raised an alert about the suspicious movement of persons along the mountainous area that shares borders with Garu and Bunkpurugu/Nankpanduri districts in the North East and Upper East regions.
Although the security has identified the movement, the activities of these suspicious individuals are unknown.
In a statement copied to the Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the ministry indicated that the group which was sighted was “aboard motorbikes dressed in apparel that hid their faces and headed for the mountainous area in the Garu district.”
The statement further called on the office of the Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces and the Police administration to be on alert for urgent actions.
This follows weeks after the Ministry of National Security had launched the “See Something, Say Something Campaign”, aimed at ensuring the peace and security of the nation amid the alerts about the potential terrorist activities in the country.
