At least three level 400 students of the University of Education, Winneba, in the Central Region, have been picked up by police in the area for allegedly attacking a lecturer on campus.
However, some other students involved in the incident are at large with police pursuing them.
They were arrested Monday, October 10, 2022, to assist police investigation after they reportedly attacked and heckled a lecturer who was on his way to teach.
It occurred some hours after some level 400 students renewed their fortnight protest against the school authorities over challenges with their grading system.
The development, the students termed, was a deliberate attempt by school authorities not to release their results on the student portal.
Apart from the inability to log on to the student portal, others say they have had courses they did not register for rather appearing on their respective portals.
Meanwhile, Professor Avea Nsor, Director at the Institute of Educational Research and Innovation studies of the school, said management had in a meeting elaborated on finding a solution to the problem.
“We agreed that some steps should be taken, that all exam officers should work to try and rectify that.
“But it is something we can deal with, and we are dealing with it,” he said as quoted by Citinewsroom.
According to Prof Nsor, the student portal was migrating to a new platform and was causing some challenges however it will take “a few more days or possibly a week or two to be able to deal with.”
