Earth Tremor: No casualties recorded – NADMO

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has announced that there were no casualties recorded in the earth tremor that occurred in some parts of Accra on Monday December 12, 2022.

According to NADMO they have duly monitored the incident and its development and so farĀ  there’s no reported destruction of lives and properties.

Parts of Accra on Monday, December 12, were hit by two earth tremors. The first tremor was recorded a little after 10: 00 am while the second was recorded around 11: 30 am.

Working closely with the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA), NADMO says they are collaborating to ascertain the details of the tremor including the magnitude and epicentres.

“Homeowners in affected areas are encouraged to inspect their buildings for possible cracks and seek technical advice from Engineers and other building experts,” NADMO said in a statement issued by its Director-General, Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh.

It further called on the general public to remain calm and go about their normal duties and assured of communicating any development to the public.

NADMO concluded and called on the public to be mindful of the kinds of information shared on social media in order to be safe and go about their duties “without fear and needless panic.”
