Ghana Premier League side Accra Great Olympics has appointed Bismark Kobi Mensah as the new coach of the club.

The appointment of the former Karela United manager follows the sacking of the immediate-past coach, Yaw Preko.

Yaw Preko’s sacking follows the club’s 2-1 defeat against a newly promoted side, Nsoatreman FC in the last round of matches of the 2022/23 Betpawa Ghana Premier League.

He took over the job in 2022 as a replacement to coach Annor Walker who had left his post in September.

Although the Accra-based club did not give reasons for its decision, Esther Abankwa, a female Sports Journalist with ABN had it that, Great Olympics resolved to sack Coach Yaw Preko over differences between the two parties.

According to sources the journalist, management of the club wanted the coach to desist from starting former Black Stars player Emmanuel Agyemang Badu.

However, the fired tactician thought otherwise and insisted on starting the player in question in games against management’s decision to always start the player from the bench.

Meanwhile, after taking such a step of showing their former employee the existing door, they quickly sought the signature of Bismark Kobi Mensah.

Coach Kobi Mensah has been off duties after he resigned as the head coach of Ghana Premier League side, Karela United in December last year.

His first assignment would be on Sunday, February 19, 2023, when the Ole Dade boys travel to face Bechem United in the week 18 fixtures of the ongoing season.

Accra Great Olympics currently sits 11th on the league standings with 23 points after 17 matches.
