The Deputy Minister for Education, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, has called on residents of Assin South district to assist the police to combat crime in the area.

According to him, the detection and prevention of crime is a shared responsibility between the police and the public therefore, they should cooperate with the security officers and support them to function well to ensure a peaceful society.

He made the call when he together with the members of the Assin South District Security Council (DISEC) visited and commiserated with the family of a pregnant teenager who was gruesomely murdered.

The deceased, 15-year-old Priscilla Botwey, locally known as Attaa Kakra who was five months pregnant, was found dead with her head chopped off by unknown assailants at Nsene in the Assin South District after going missing for four days.

Speaking at a gathering, Rev Ntim who is also an MP for the area said “Your reluctance and unwillingness to furnish the police with vital information that could lead to the arrest of perpetrators of crime does not only strengthen criminal activities but also put the lives of the whole society in danger, so help the police find those behind such heinous crimes.”

Meanwhile, the DCE for Assin South, Felicia Amissah Ntrakwah who was also present, disclosed that her checks indicated the deceased went to the farm with her grandfather.

However, she could not fathom why the grandfather, Joseph Yankson, did not return home with the deceased, which to her, leaves many questions unanswered.

The Assin South District Police Commander, ASP Robert Kyeremeh assured the public of their unwavering commitment to safeguarding them.
