An Okada rider, believed to be in his late 20s has lost a leg and is in serious condition after an alleged Police convoy travelling from Accra to Takoradi knocked him down at Gomoa Buduatta on the Kasoa Cape Coast highway in the Central Region.
Opanyin Darko, Angel FM’s Central regional correspondent, reported that the alleged Police convoy made a wrongful overtaking leading to the incident.
However, his sources say after committing the crime, the convoy failed to attend to the victim and transport him to any healthcare facility for attention.
The rider who sustained a severe injury, and had his left leg severed off was quickly transported to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment by some residents who witnessed the incident.
Emmanuel Gaise, an eyewitness giving an account of the incident, said the convoy was travelling at a high speed when the incident occurred.
“The rider was knocked down by the police convoy, and his leg was instantly severed. They abandoned him and drove away after the incident. He lost his left leg.
“Some of the rider’s friends and residents came together and took him to the hospital. The rider was screaming in agony,” said the eyewitness.
