The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has revealed that he is still struggling to adjust to his new position in the executive committee of the party.
‘General Mosquito’ as he is known and called in political circles became the chairman of the main opposition political party after defeating incumbent, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo in the heated contest.
He assumed the highest national executive position of the NDC after becoming a Member of Parliament (MP), Deputy Minister and also becoming the longest serving General Secretary of the party founded by late Jerry John Rawlings.
18 years of performing roles as General Secretary of the party, he said, affected him as it has never been easy assuming the position of Chairman overnight.
“I am no longer the Chief Executive of the party, so I have to assign certain roles to him (Fiifi Kwetey)…I have to slow down and assume my role as Chairman and that is not easy…,” he told Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah during an exclusive interview on Angel Morning Show on Wednesday.
The astute politician said the struggle in his new position has contributed his recent absence from media discussions.
“I have had to allow him perform certain duties such as managing elections and other duties that General Secretaries are supposed to execute and that is why I am not present in media circles lately…,” he added.
