Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benjamin Agordzo who has been acquitted by an Accra High Court after being accused of committing high treason, has indicated that the ruling of his trial tells it all about the hurdle of his life.
According to the officer who is one of the three acquitted persons, he has “been vindicated” from false accusations that lasted four years.
ACP Agordzo, thus described the allegations leveled against him as “concoctions and fabrication” which in his view were orchestrated by some unfaced naysayers.
“I emphasize that my faith was in God and I had known how the whole thing was going to end and it ended as expected. Although some section of the public misunderstood the judgement but the fact is that as a Christian, I know how it was going to end.
“Besides that, I know I had done nothing wrong and I know they were fabrications and therefore I know i was going to put my defense strongly from the beginning,” he said while speaking on the Angel Morning Show.
The police officer who has over 30 years of experience in policing added that God did the intervene for him.
“My faith in God has brought me this far and the fact that God is the God of justice, he was not going to allow me go through this and then be put to shame. Therefore, all this goes to God.”
He stressed further by expressing his gratitude to Ghanaians especially those who stood on his behalf during the periods of the trails.
“…To all Ghanaians who had believed in me because I knew many people believed that, no, this guy couldn’t have done this.”
ACP Benjamin Agordzo together with two others namely Colonel Gameli, and Corporal Seidu Abubakar, were acquitted.
The six persons including three soldiers are; Donya Kafui, aka Ezor (a blacksmith) and Bright Alan Debrah Ofosu (a fleet manager), were found guilty of conspiracy to commit treason and treason, while Johannes Zikpi (a civilian employee of the Ghana Armed Forces) was found guilty of conspiracy to commit high treason; the three soldiers – Warrant Officer II Esther Saan Dekuwine, Lance Corporal Ali Solomon, and Corporal Sylvester Akanpewon, were found guilty of conspiracy to commit high treason.
