Head Coach of the Black Queens, Nora Hauptle, has praised the team for their spirited performance in the second leg of Africa Women’s Olympic Games third-round qualifiers against Zambia.
According to the coach, her ladies did a yeoman’s job and deserve commendation despite failing to secure a spot in the footballing discipline at the upcoming Paris games.
Ghana who conceded a stoppage time goal from Barbra Banda on Wednesday, saw the game ending 3-3 and giving the Copper Queens an advantage to qualify to the next stage with a 4-3 aggregate score line. The Black Queens were beaten 1-0 in the 1st leg.
Speaking to the Ghana Football Association’s Communication Team, Nora Hauptle said “My team was brave, my team was playing football, my team was fighting, I can’t blame them at all. Sometimes it’s hard.
“They scored a free kick and the red card in the last minute. We would have loved to go overtime but all in all it’s disappointing for us but kudos to Zambia,” she added.
Black Queens will now focus on 15th edition of the forthcoming 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be hosted in Morocco.
