The Personal Assistant to Alan Kyeremanteng, Nana Yaw Sarpong, has advocated for a change in administration within the sports ministry, asserting that such a move is essential for the advancement of the sports sector.

Sarpong emphasized the necessity for restructuring within the ministry, stating, “I believe that, considering the current state of our nation, even the Sport Ministry itself should undergo restructuring. While there may be individuals who have remained in their positions for an extended period due to technical reasons, administrative restructuring is imperative.”

He made these assertions on Angel Morning Show on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, while expressing his views on the recent development in the on going All African Games held in Ghana, Accra.

Highlighting the benefits of periodic changes in leadership within the ministry, Sarpong pointed out that such measures would help prevent disruptions caused by coaches or ministers deviating from the established ‘game plan’ of longstanding authorities. He stressed that this would mitigate internal conflicts that hinder the sector’s development.

Sarpong also revealed that the Sport Ministry continues to operate within outdated structures, lacking strategic plans for effectively managing sports facilities. He asserted, “Without implementing a proper administrative framework, one that transcends the existing Kwame Nkrumah structure, the Ministry will struggle to progress.”

Furthermore, Sarpong emphasized the need to view the sports sector as a national asset capable of generating revenue for the country’s development. He stated, “It is crucial to recognize that the sports sector should serve as a means of national revenue generation, benefiting the nation as a whole rather than serving individual interests. Concrete measures must be implemented to ensure this.”
