The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Evans Ndenyun has advised Ghanaians to patronise herbal drugs approved by the authority for their own safety.
According to him, the FDA only approve products which are of the highest quality, efficacious and safe.
He said the FDA has been keen on regulations because 60 to 70% of Ghanaians now depend on herbal medicine for their private health needs.
“Regulation plays a pivotal role, to ensure the safety, efficacy, and quality of products. In the context of herbal medicines, is crucial for promoting public health, ensuring product quality. The FDA’s guidelines on the registration of herbal medicinal products ensure that before a herbal medicine is given marketing authorization (registration) it has to meet quality, safety and efficacy requirements…,” he said.
These products, he said, include the Kwanbofo range of products which have passed through all the regulatory framework of the authority and have been certified for public consumption.
Mr Ndenyun further urged Ghanaians suffering from various ailments to patronise products from Kwanbofo Healthcare as he can vouch for their safety and quality.
“The six (6) herbal medicines mentioned above from Kwanbofo Healthcare have been duly granted Marketing Authorization (registered) by the FDA for the stated disease conditions…,” he stated.
He named the six products which have met the FDA’s guidelines on the registration of herbal medicinal products and have been given marketing authorization (registration) as follows:
KWANBOFO WAKO HERBAL MIXTURE (Zingiber officinale, Allium sativum, Alchornea cordifolia and Piper nigrum) which is for the treatment of cough, KWANBOFO ANIKO MIXTURE (Alchornea cordifolia, Euphorbia hirta and Securidaca longipedunculata) which is for treatment of abdominal and menstrual pain and KWANBOFO POMA CAPSULES (Nigella sativa, Alchornea cordifolia and Cinnamomum verum) which has been registered as a supplement for immune support and blood circulation.

Three out of the six products were launched at a colourful ceremony in Accra over the weekend. They are Aniko Mixture, Kwanbofo DPF Capsules and Poma Capsules.
Managing Editor of Kwanbofo Healthcare, Mr. Charles K Fenteng who unveiled the products said he and his wife decided to research into the efficacy of herbal products and come out with the best to serve Ghanaians.
He narrated how he and his wife were cured of various diseases after using herbal medicines. This was after various orthodox medications failed.
“It took us more than five years to do this research and we are proud of the products we have come out with. All our products -Aniko Mixture, Kwanbofo DPF Capsules and Poma Capsules – which we are launching today are very good and serve the very purpose for which they were made…,” Mr Fenteng said.
He further entreated Ghanaians to patronise the products as they can heal them of their various ailments.
