A 40-year-old man has allegedly committed suicide at Assin Bosomadwe in the Assin South District of the Central Region, following an alleged threat by his wife to walk out of their marriage.
The deceased, Kwaku Mensah, before his demise, was a professional Mason, drinking Spot Operator and farmer. According to reports, the couple had been married for nine years with two children until he committed the act.
He is alleged to have died after consuming paint that failed to work before topping it with weedicide to end his life.
It is reported that there had been a protracted misunderstanding over a suspected infidelity issue between the couple and for that reason, the wife decided to leave the marriage since all attempts to resolve the matter by family members were unsuccessful.
Sources say the wife reportedly left the marriage four times. Thus, the deceased could no longer endure the pain inflicted on him by his wife’s decision to exit the marriage and committed the suicide.
An uncle of the deceased, Nana Kyei Barfuor who is also the Nifahene of Assin Bosomadwe confirmed the incident to Rich FM/ Angel News.
“After drinking the poison, his moaning attracted some youth of the town and he was rushed to the intensive care unit of the Abura Dunkwa District Hospital for medical attention but he passed on in the process at about 11 PM on the same day,” he narrated.
The body has been deposited at the Abura Dunkwaw District Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy.
