The Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU) of TUC (Ghana), NIA Division, has decided to suspend their indefinite strike that began on June 10, 2024.
The strike was initiated as a result of poor condition of services and stalled negotiations that had begun concerning their condition of services.
This decision comes ahead of upcoming negotiations with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) set for June 14, 2024. The suspension follows interventions from the National Security Minister, an invitation to the negotiation table from FWSC, advice from the mother union, and public concern.
The FWSC has assured the union of their willingness to engage in good faith during these negotiations. However, the union has stated that if the government does not demonstrate true commitment by granting Institution Specific Allowances during Friday’s negotiations, they will resume industrial action.
Union members are instructed to return to work on June 13, 2024, and continue their duties professionally. The union expresses gratitude for the support received during the strike and urges the government to act in good faith to maintain industrial harmony.
