The 2024 Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has reiterated his stance on the practice of homosexuality in the country, stating categorically that, the practice will not be tolerated in his government when he is elected Ghana’s next president.

He stated that he would not allow same-sex practice and its related matters in his administration because it is against the country’s core values.

Dr. Bawumia said his stance is based on the dictates of the Bible, Quran and the practices of tradition religions.

Addressing the Chief and Elders, Members of the Clergy, Chief Imams, and party supporters at separate engagements during his Monday’s tour of Ablekuma North and Ablekuma West, he said he will maintain this position irrespective of international pressure.

“I know all of us have heard about the LGBTQ, under a Bawumia presidency, it is not allowed, that practice will not be accepted, it will never be accepted.

“It is not consistent with the Bible, the Quran, the Tradition and it is also not consistent with our core values so we will not allow it today, tomorrow, and forever,” he stated categorically.

In the view of the Vice President, the decision would one way or the other affect the country but he noted the need to endure it.

“No matter the cost, probably, there will be a cost but we will have to bear the cost to protect our societies, our values, and whatever it is. So, we have to be clear, and everybody has to be clear, no compromise, there would be no compromise,” Dr. Bawumia reiterated.
