The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has set five questions for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, to answer.
According to Mahama, Dr. Bawumia had once posed 170 questions to then-Vice President Amissah-Arthur during the 2016 campaign.
Now, Mahama is asking Bawumia to answer five key questions instead of those 170.
Angel News’ Mubarak Yakubu, who is following John Mahama on his Northern Region campaign tour reports that, Mahama’s questions focus on the economy: why the exchange rate is GHS 17 to USD 1, why Ghana’s debt rose from GHS 120 billion to GHS 767 billion in eight years, why inflation reached 54%, and why the government borrowed GHS 42 billion from the Bank of Ghana.
Finally, Mahama asks why Bawumia has shifted focus from the economy to digitalization.
Mahama has also criticized the NPP for distributing bottles of oil to Ghanaians as a way to gain votes, saying this is an attempt to distract from the struggling economy.
He says he saw a video showing NPP members handing out one-liter bottles of oil in a market.
According to Mahama, this reflects the poverty many Ghanaians are now facing, as they can’t afford such items on their own.
Mahama stated that it would be better to empower people to make their own money so they can afford their own needs, rather than relying on handouts.
