President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been described as Ghana’s greatest nightmare by Dr. Tony Aidoo, a prominent member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dr. Aidoo criticized the outgoing President’s governance style and economic management, stating that his tenure has brought immense suffering to Ghanaians, leaving a lasting negative impact.
Speaking on Angel TV’s Angel Morning Show, Dr. Aidoo lamented the lack of progress under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, claiming no sector of the economy has functioned effectively during Akufo-Addo’s presidency.
“He [Akufo-Addo] has been Ghana’s worst nightmare for the past eight years, not just in terms of economic mismanagement but also his governance style,” Dr. Aidoo said.
He elaborated further, “Over the past eight years, there is no constitutional body or state apparatus that is not manned by the chosen people of Akufo-Addo. From the Electoral Commission to the Supreme Court, all are sympathizers of the NPP and even the press. Even with media houses, their independence has been compromised. This is the kind of nightmare we’ve endured for eight years.”
The former government appointee under the NDC administration highlighted the devastating impact of the NPP government on Ghana’s economy.
“Akufo-Addo has mismanaged the economy to the point where all key fundamentals and macroeconomic indicators are in the negatives. This is the reality and how I see about Akufo-Addo’s administration,” Dr. Aidoo said during the interview with Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah.
