The Director of Operations of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Divine Nkrumah, has said that he has no issue with former President John Agyekum Kuffuor’s decision to endorse Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Nkrumah noted that Kuffuor’s actions were logical, considering his allegiance to the New Patriotic Party (NPP). According to him, if he were in Kuffuor’s position, he would have done the same.
“Kuffuor is an NPP stalwart who became President under the party’s banner. It’s only natural that his endorsement would go to someone within the NPP, and in this case, that person is Dr. Bawumia,” Nkrumah said.
However, Nkrumah expressed disagreement with Kuffuor’s claim that Dr. Bawumia is the best candidate to lead Ghana at this time.
“Kuffuor said that Ghana can rise in the next five years and that Dr. Bawumia is the right person to address the challenges we face. I disagree with this assessment,” Nkrumah remarked.
He went on to criticize the current hardships faced by Ghanaians, attributing them to the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He further questioned the wisdom of handing the reins of the country to Dr. Bawumia, who has been a key figure in the current administration.
“The suffering Ghanaians are enduring today is the result of Nana Addo’s leadership. To suggest that Dr. Bawumia, who is part of this administration, is the solution to our problems is something I find difficult to accept,” he added.
