An aide to Alan Kyeremanten, Nana Yaw Sarpong has indicated that the Presidential candidate of the Movement for Change will implement traders bank for those who are into Small Medium Enterprises (SME).
The bank, he stated, during a panel discussion on Angel Morning Show on Thursday 22 November 2024 will open its doors to traders and people who are self employed.
“Everyone knows across the length and breadth of the world that in Africa and Ghana when we talk of people who really understands trade, you cannot choose anyone over Alan Kyeremanten….so he would demonstrate this ability by opening a bank purposefully for petty traders,” he said.
Interests on loans to be given to traders by the Traders Bank, Nana Yaw Sarpong said will be low and will be a single digit.
“If we want to compete with businesses in Ivory Coast, Togo, China and US and their interest rate is a single digit and ours is double we cannot compete with them,” he said.
He noted that, those outside are able to repay the loans whilst those in Ghana are unable because of the double digit interest rate and they also run at a loss in their businesses.
A single digit interest rate, he said will enable traders quickly offset loans they may secure from the bank.
