The Ghana Police Service has interdicted one of its officers for alleged professional misconduct.
The officer, Detective Corporal Baba Amando Ibrahim, stationed at the Tuna Police Station in the Savannah Region, was cited in a viral video assaulting a member of the public.
In a statement, the Service indicated that the interdiction is to allow for a thorough investigation into his conduct in accordance with police service regulations.
“His interdiction is to allow for a thorough investigation into his conduct in line with police service regulations,” the statement read.
The statement also mentioned that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has reached out to the victim’s family, assuring them of the necessary support.
Additionally, the IGP has directed the Savannah Regional Police Commander to collaborate with the family to ensure the matter is addressed appropriately.
