President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, has announced several key appointments to his administration ahead of his inauguration.

The appointments include Julius Debrah, a former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, who has been appointed as the Chief of Staff.

It is the second time Mr Debrah is taking up the post after he assumed same position in Mr Mahama’s previous administration. 

In this pivotal role, he will oversee the daily operations of the presidency, managing the work of the government’s administration and providing strategic leadership within the Executive.

Dr. Callistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President
Dr. Callistus Mahama, a seasoned administrator and former public servant, will serve as the Executive Secretary to the President. He will provide critical support in managing the president’s schedule, correspondence, and high-level interactions.

Prosper Douglas Bani, Head of Interim Security Taskforce
Prosper Douglas Bani, a security expert with extensive experience in national defense, has been appointed to head the Interim Security Taskforce.

This taskforce will work to ensure national security preparedness and immediate response capabilities during the transition period and beyond.

Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor for Governmental Affairs, Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, a highly regarded academic and policy expert, will serve as Senior Presidential Advisor for Governmental Affairs.

Her role will focus on advising the president on key governmental issues, public policy, and intergovernmental relations, playing a vital role in shaping legislative and executive strategy.

Augustus Goosie Tannoh, Presidential Advisor for 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development.

Augustus Goosie Tannoh, a business leader and development strategist, has been appointed as Presidential Advisor on the 24-hour economy and accelerated export development.

His expertise will be crucial in driving economic reforms aimed at boosting Ghana’s industrial capacity, trade, and global competitiveness.

Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew, Legal Counsel to the President, Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew, an experienced legal professional and former member of the judiciary, will serve as the Legal Counsel to the President.

In this capacity, she will provide legal advice and ensure that the president’s actions and decisions remain in line with Ghana’s Constitution and international law.

Member of Parliament-elect for Abura-Asebu-kwamankese Constituency, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, is Acting Spokesperson to the President

He will be responsible for managing communication between the presidency and the public, providing updates on government policies, initiatives, and the president’s agenda.

These appointments mark a significant step in the formation of President-elect Mahama’s administration as he prepares to take office on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

The appointees bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their respective roles, signaling a commitment to effective governance, security, legal oversight, and economic transformation.

The new appointments are set to take effect on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, as President Mahama moves forward with his plans for Ghana’s development and progress in the coming years.
