Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak, has asked the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt, to remain in his lane rather than openly disapproving appointments made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He expressed discomfort with the attitude of the veteran journalist, who has called out President John Dramani Mahama over his appointment decisions, labeling them as “anti-national and a bad precedent.”

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 26, 2026, Ras Mubarak condemned Mr. Pratt’s actions and rhetoric, questioning his moral standing in criticizing the president’s decisions.

He schooled the complainant on the rationale behind rewarding party loyalists who have worked hard to bring a party into government rather than favoring perceived neutrals with no political contributions.

“Your daughter is in government, and you are complaining that we are appointing NDC members. You cannot be more entitled to an appointment as a neutral than a party member who’s paid his or her dues. Someone can’t sit on the fence and expect to eat off the fruits of another person’s labor.

“For the record, Mr. Pratt was in Namibia as part of a delegation. How many NDC members since we won have had such privileges? Secondly, Mr. Pratt’s relative, who is not NDC as far as I know (I’ve never seen his daughter spend days in villages like many of our equally qualified party women, canvassing for votes), whose husband pilloried us and encouraged people to vote for Alan,” he stated.

The former MP argued that if there was any government since the late President Jerry John Rawlings’ era that had recognized more neutrals and non-NDC members in its appointments, it was the Mahama-led government.

“So what’s the noise about? Ambassadorial appointment at the chagrin of party members? He should cut us some slack. If positions are given to party members, they are deserving of it. Does he know the number of qualified party members who can do a better job than Ama Pratt? (I’m sorry, Ama, really sorry, because you are a nice person, but Mr. Pratt’s crass hypocrisy is nauseating).”

The businessman, on that note, warned Mr. Pratt to desist from any attempt to pressure the government into appointing him as an ambassador through unjustifiable criticism.

“Mr. Pratt is not more leftist than Hon. Kofi Attor or Alhaji Hudu Yahaya. He’s not more hard-left or patriotic than any of us. Why were the respectable senior party people not asked to accompany the VP to Namibia? You get all of these courtesies and still rub it in by calling us a band of criminals?

“This attempt to force the government’s hand to make you an ambassador should not be entertained. Party members worked their socks off for this victory—don’t insult them.”
