The Minority Caucus in Parliament has warned the incumbent administration over what it described as persecution against its members, under the pretext of prosecuting individuals allegedly involved in corruption-related activities.
According to the Minority, the increasing trend of politically motivated arrests and harassment targeted at opposition members is becoming excessive.
Speaking in Parliament after the debate on the 2025 Budget, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin said, “You can arrest all of us, but we will remain resolute. No amount of intimidation will break our spirit.”
He admonished the government to halt its actions and rather focus on delivering its campaign promises, such as economic recovery, job creation, and national development.
“A government that prioritises persecution over progress is bound to fail. Ghanaians are watching, and they will decide in 2028. In 2028, we will defeat you and restore true governance to this country,” Afenyo-Markin said while projecting doom for the government in the next general elections.
