Legendary Accra Hearts of Oak defender, Daniel Quaye, has advised Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, to stay focused on his training principles following applauds from Ghanaians.

Dan Quaye, as he is affectionately called in football circles, warned Asare not to be carried away by the praise.

Benjamin Asare, the Accra Hearts of Oak stopper, has earned public respect and praise after his clean-sheet performances as Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper in their double-header wins over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Many have suggested that the Black Stars’ technical handlers maintain him as the team’s number-one goalkeeper in future matches.

Dan Quaye acknowledged the support and opinions of football-loving fans toward Asare but was quick to caution him against complacency.

He urged the Accra Hearts of Oak man to stay humble, believing that humility would help him achieve football greatness.

“I will advise him [Benjamin Asare] not to be complacent after this matches. He should stick to his training and get rid of pride. Asare should be careful and I believe he can attain greater heights,” Dan Quaye said on Koforidua-based Bryt in an interview.

Analysing Benjamin Asare’s performance, Dan Quaye said it was not surprising, considering the track record of many home-based goalkeepers in the national team over the years.

“We all know the impact of local goalkeepers in the national team so I wasn’t surprised with his performance.”
