At least two people have been confirmed dead, while several others sustained injuries after a bus they were traveling in crashed at Asesseso, between Adukrom and Somanya in the Eastern Region.
The bus was carrying 62 pupils from Ben Kunadu SDA Basic School in Asante Akyem on an excursion to Akosombo.
However, upon reaching a section of the Aseseeso stretch, the driver reportedly lost control while descending a hill, causing the bus to somersault before landing on its side.
Many initially feared multiple fatalities, but reports from the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council confirmed that two people died on the spot, a student and an adult.
Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey, who was passing by, joined rescue efforts and helped transport some injured students to Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital.
Police, Fire Service, and Ambulance teams rushed to the scene to assist in recovering trapped victims.
