Prez Mahama to CJ: I’ll ensure due process in handling petitions for your removal

President John Dramani Mahama has assured Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkonoo, that due process will be ensured in handling the petitions seeking her removal from office.

According to Mr. Mahama, he will accordingly give the CJ a full opportunity to be heard.

“Finally, His Excellency wishes to assure you that due process will be followed in handling this matter and that you will be given a full and fair opportunity to be heard,” he assured.

This was contained in a letter dated March 28, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama.

The President has also asked the Chief Justice to submit a response to the petition within 10 days to facilitate further consultations.

“Accordingly, you are respectfully requested to submit your preliminary response to the petitions within ten (10) days of receipt of this letter to facilitate further consultation between His Excellency and the Council of State.”
