The Director of Corporate Affairs and International Relations at KAAF University, Mrs. Constance Phyllis Puttick, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to extend the government’s initiative of free admission for first-year public university students to cover those attending private universities as well.
According to Mrs. Puttick, the initiative should not be exclusive to public universities, as a more equitable approach would ensure that private institutions are also considered.
She also emphasised that a balanced governmental decision is crucial for the overall development of the nation’s educational landscape.
Speaking to Angel News, she asserted that, the national cake should not be limited to only public universities rather, should encompass both public and private universities in the country.
“We’re appealing to the government to also include the private universities in its free admission initiative for public universities in their first year. When you look at Public-Private Partnerships, the private universities are also performing admirably well.
“President Mahama has stated that he will cover the costs for first-year students in public universities; he should include the private universities as well, as we also have a significant number of Ghanaian students pursuing their education here,” she passionately appealed.
