The Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Krobea Asante says the Coronavirus pandemic exposed significant weaknesses in the nation’s healthcare system.
Mr. Asante emphasized that the NPP government, however, managed to recognized these healthcare deficiencies.
He indicated that the reasonableness and sensitive government led by former President Nana Akufo-Addo did not sit idle; instead, he took proactive measures to address them.
Mr. Asante noted that before the NPP’s administration, “the country had no agency responsible for developing vaccines but as I currently speak, we have the National Vaccines Authority.”
He also mentioned that, this National Vaccine Authority is now focused on research and developing vaccines which was non existent prior to the NPP’s tenure.
Additionally, he highlighted several hospital projects initiated by previous administrations that were completed during Nana Akufo-Addo’s presidency, including the Konongo Hospital, Fomena Hospital, and Kumawu Hospital, all of which are now operational.
Mr. Asante remarked, “I will never use someone’s health as a political tool; it simply doesn’t make sense. We must avoid letting politics cloud our judgment on critical issues.”
