Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is set to appear before the New Patriotic Party (NPP) disciplinary committee over her recent comments.
This follows the NPP’s earlier directive cautioning members against public statements that could create division within the party.
In a statement on Thursday, March 20, 2025, NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua stated that Adwoa Safo’s comments defied party directives and undermined efforts to rebuild.
“As she is aware, the directive explicitly states that all party members must cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms. Her actions are not only in disregard of this directive but also undermine the Party’s efforts to rebuild and move forward,” Mr. Kodua explained.
The statement explained that, the former Member of Parliament is advised to present any necessary documents as evidence pertinent to the matter under investigation.
The hearing is scheduled for Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the party’s conference room at the NPP Headquarters, Asylum Down in Accra.
“I extend to you warm regards. Pursuant to the directive of the chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, you are hereby invited to appear before the committee to provide assistance in an inquiry into a matter currently under its consideration,” it stated.
It further noted that Ms. Adwoa Safo is entitled to present a legal practitioner as the proceedings require.
The report indicated that the party remains committed to upholding the principles of transparency, fairness, and due process.
