The youth of Nwamase in the Kwadaso Municipality have asked authorities to consider converting an abandoned Roman Catholic Church building there into a police station to combat armed robbery in their community.
According to them, armed robbers frequently attacked residents, leaving many traumatized and fearful for their safety. The youth felt that this ongoing threat hindered their community’s development.
In a heartfelt plea to the authorities and the Roman Catholic Church, they requested the conversion of the derelict building into a police or fire station for better security. Unfortunately, their requests were rejected by the church.
The youth called for reconsideration, urging both the church and local authorities to allow this important change.
They believed that this step is essential for enhancing their safety and security.
“We’re pleading with our elders in the country, including the leaders of the Catholic Church, that they should listen to our grievances and help us with their abandoned building to be converted into a police station because in this community we don’t have any police station.
“Now we have the police station here; meanwhile, we’re not getting them any land to put up a building for them.
“The Fire Service also came here, yet we’re still not getting them any land, and now armed robbers are disturbing us,” the youth stated.
They urged the authorities to take immediate action to address their urgent security concerns.
The youth believed that turning the abandoned church building into a police station would have been a vital step toward ensuring their safety and security.
