The Tema West Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwasi Poku, has asserted that the Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, is unfit to assume the role of Chairman in the Greater Accra Region due to comments he made during the party’s recent “thank you tour.”
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Mr. Poku stated that he does not blame anyone outside the party for the situation but holds certain party members responsible for elevating Abronye to the position of Bono Regional Chairman.
He emphatically declared that Abronye lacks the necessary decorum and understanding of how to conduct himself appropriately.
“For me, what happened the last time was unfortunate. It’s regrettable that some of us weren’t present. I don’t want to blame him entirely, but I do blame some of our party managers.
“What Abronye did and said as a regional chairman was unacceptable. When you hold a regional office, your words carry weight.
“But I don’t blame anyone else—I blame us, the party members. How did Abronye become a regional chairman? How? Abronye can never be a chairman in Greater Accra; he’ll remain in the village.
“Even as a constituency chairman, he wouldn’t qualify in Greater Accra. Given his personality and his loose talk, Chairman Divine would never behave in such a manner,” Mr. Poku remarked.
He further stated that he would be deeply disappointed if Abronye were ever appointed as the NPP’s Greater Accra Regional Chairman, noting that even his physical appearance does not befit a leadership role in the metropolitan area.
Mr. Poku concluded by cautioning Abronye to exercise greater discretion in his public statements when addressing Ghanaians.
