Government has secured visa for Suzy Adwoa Pinamang, the Seventh-Day Adventist Senior High School student who was shot in the eye by a classmate, to receive medical attention abroad.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who announced this on his social media platforms, noted that the visa also covers two of her caregivers who will accompany her on the medical trip.

In addition, Mr. Ablakwa said he had instructed the Ghana High Commission in the UK to extend special consular privileges upon their arrival.

The Minister revealed that this intervention became possible after the Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso-Boakye, brought Suzy’s situation to his attention and requested assistance.

“May I duly commend the MP for Bantama, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, who first brought Suzy’s plight to my attention and requested my intervention as Foreign Minister following the accidental gunshot by her classmate,” he stated with applause.

Mr. Ablakwa also expressed profound gratitude to the UK High Commissioner, Harriet Thompson, for her immense support in response to the urgent appeal made on compassionate grounds.

He also acknowledged businessman Ibrahim Mahama, who has generously decided to cover the entire cost of Ms. Pinamang’s medical treatment in the UK.

“This is testament that we can always achieve great progress when we work together,” he added.

While offering Suzy Adwoa Pinamang his best wishes for a full recovery, Mr. Ablakwa encouraged her not to give up the fight, expressing confidence in her bravery.

He added, “You can always count on the prayers and support of the Ghanaian people.”
