Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the demise of Daddy Lumba will leave a gap in Ghana’s music industry.
He expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the celebrated Ghanaian musician, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, and acknowledged the loss as a significant blow to the creative arts.
In a tribute, Akufo-Addo described the late music icon as a “pantheon among musical greats of all-time,” and highlighted the strong bond Lumba shared with his fans and the nation at large.
“With regret, I have received the sad news of the passing of my dear friend and renowned music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu. Daddy Lumba, as we affectionately call him, was a pantheon among musical greats of all-time and had a special connection with his fans and the entire nation,” the tribute said in a post on Facebook.
He further cited the significant role Lumba’s music played in his political life, stating it would be indelibly remembered.
“His hit-making songs will remain lasting contributions to my presidential journey and will forever be etched in the annals of political campaign of the New Patriotic Party,” says Akufo-Addo.
According to the two-term President, the late singer will be “sorely missed.”
