A massive national candlelight vigil in honour of the late Ghanaian Hi-Life legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba, was held on Saturday evening, August 2, 2025, at the Accra Independence Square.
The solemn ceremony attracted thousands, including fans, musicians, dignitaries, and members of the public, all united in mourning and remembrance of the celebrated artist.

Many attendees dressed in black, held lit candles while others turned on their phone torchlights, sung along to Daddy Lumba’s iconic tracks and reflected on his immense influence within Ghana’s music industry.
The vigil formed part of a nationwide commemoration following sudden demise.

At the event, speakers who had the opportunity to address the crowd recognized Daddy Lumba’s extensive contribution to highlife music and his role as a cultural beacon in Ghana.
Some eulogized his music and affirmed his songs remain timeless and will continue to resonate across generations.

Similar gatherings were held in other regions, such as Koforidua in the Eastern Region and Nzema in the Western Region, as tributes for the late musician continue to spread throughout the country.
Daddy Lumba, among his celebrated works are hit songs including Makra Mo, Ɛyɛ N’adom, Yɛne Wo Sere Kwa, Yemfa Odo, Sika Asem, Mepaebo, and Akwanoma, among others.
