The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed that three members of the army have died in the Obuasi helicopter crash that occurred Wednesday morning in the Ashanti Region.
According to an official statement from the GAF, a military helicopter—Z9—took off from Accra at 09:12 GMT en route to Obuasi but crashed in the general area of Sikaman near Adansi Akrofuom.
“The Ghana Armed Forces regret to announce that the crew were Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.”
“The Ghana Armed Forces extends its condolences to the bereaved families,” the release, signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, stated.
GAF says investigations have commenced to determine the cause of the accident.
