The United Nations has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic crash of a Ghana Airforce Z9 helicopter that claimed the lives of eight individuals.
In a statement dated August 6, 2025, UN Resident Coordinator, Zia Choudhury, expresses profound sorrow over the tragic incident.
The incident led to the loss of Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, and the Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Government of Ghana, and the people of Ghana.
“This tragedy is felt deeply not only across the nation but also by the international community.”
The UN’s message emphasized solidarity with Ghana during this period of mourning.
