Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, says he is in “unfathomable, ruthless pain” following the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals describing the tragedy as a national heartbreak.
Mr. Bagbin mourned the passing of the deceased persons who died in line of duty and said the news had left him devastated and the nation “in shock and distraught.”
“Without doubt, our fallen heroes demonstrated commitment to building our nation and had much more to offer and live for. It is unfortunate that we lost them to the cold hands of death at this time.”
He noted that while their passing leaves an irreplaceable void, their legacies will endure.
“Their untimely passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but their legacies will continue to inspire generations to come,” Mr. Bagbin added.
The Speaker extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families, President John Dramani Mahama, the government, and all those affected by the tragedy.
The President has by executive powers declared a three-day national mourning of the lives lost.
