The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that the Board tasked to investigate the recent Z-9 helicopter crash has officially commenced work.
The Board is chaired by the National Security Coordinator, with members drawn from the Ghana Air Force and the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
A statement signed by the Acting Defence Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, disclosed that international support is being provided to facilitate the investigation process.
“The United States of America is providing advice and assistance to the board through visiting investigators from the U.S. Air Force,” the statement issued on Monday, August 25, 2025 added.
The Ministry stressed that “the Board may also invite other relevant experts and institutions, both local and international to assist with the investigations.”
That team is expected to submit its preliminary report to the Board today and has been directed to complete its work within 30 days.
