In response to recent communal unrest in the Savannah Region, the Ghana Police Service has deployed reinforcement teams to bolster security in Sawla, Gbiniyiri, Giniri, and surrounding communities.
The move comes as part of a coordinated effort involving the Ghana Armed Forces and other key stakeholders to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
The intensified security operation aims to stabilize the affected areas and reassure residents of their safety by strategically monitoring the situation and respond swiftly to any disturbances.
Leading the charge is the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, who has arrived in the region with a delegation from the National Police Headquarters.
His team is engaging with local chiefs, opinion leaders, and community representatives to assess the security landscape and foster dialogue aimed at long-term peace.
Police in a statement urges all parties involved to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel to ensure lasting peace in the region.
