The Asokwa Circuit Court has has converted three Nigerian nationals for vehicle theft offences in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region.
The suspects— Francis Friday, Linus Agware and Russell Ekeme— were arrested on June 20, 2025, for engaging in theft activities involving parked vehicles.
On July 22, all three were arraigned before the Asokwa Circuit Court.
Russell Ekeme pleaded guilty and was convicted immediately. Francis Friday and Linus Agware pleaded not guilty and were remanded to appear for sentencing on 19 September 2025 upon conviction.
Subsequently, on July 24, Francis Friday and Linus Agware appeared before Circuit Court 3. Both were found guilty on two counts and sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment with hard labour, with the terms running concurrently.
On the same day, Circuit Court 1 heard additional two counts against all three suspects and sentenced each to twenty years’ imprisonment with hard labour, also to run concurrently.
On August 26, Russell Ekeme faced further charges on two counts at Circuit Court 2 and received a ten-year sentence with hard labour, to run concurrently with his earlier term.
All three convicts are currently serving their sentences at the Kumasi Central Prisons.
The Command said the convictions underscore its commitment to ensuring that persons found culpable of criminal activities face the full rigours of the law.
