Liwin urges TV stations to properly manage kids after talent shows

Actor and movie producer, Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Liwin, has called on television stations to take responsibility for the future of children who participate in talent shows.

In a post shared on his Instagram page on Monday, September 8, 2025, Liwin expressed concern over the lack of support and proper management for children after they win such competitions.

“I have a short message for all the TV stations in Ghana who host talent shows for kids, whether singing, poem recitation, or dancing. There should be a management team to guide these kids after they win the show,” he said.

According to Liwin, many TV stations run seasonal talent shows where parents spend large sums of money campaigning and soliciting votes for their children. He noted that after winners are crowned, the stations often abandon them without providing any form of structured management or career support.

“Parents spend 10,000 Ghana cedis and above to support their kids just so they can win, yet after the victory, these stations leave the children with no support or management team. Meanwhile, the money TV stations make from votes is far more than the support the children receive,” he lamented.

Liwin stressed that proper management could help these young talents grow into stars, citing the examples of Kuami Eugene and KiDi, who thrived because of strong support systems after being discovered.

“If stations manage these children well, people can identify the talent they want to work with, train them, and guide them toward greatness. That is how we can produce the next big stars,” he added.
