The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season kicks off today with Accra Hearts of Oak hosting newly promoted Hohoe United at the Accra Sports Stadium in the season’s opening fixture.
The competition will be keenly contested by 18 clubs, with Bibiani Gold Stars as the defending champions.
Clubs such as Accra Hearts of Oak, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Aduana Stars, Medeama SC, among others, are expected to contest for the coveted trophy.
Ahead of the start of the campaign, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) extended his best wishes to all 18 participating clubs.
He also appealed to stakeholders, including officials, players and supporters, to contribute to making the league one of the best on the African continent.
According to him, this season’s league marks the beginning of efforts to revolutionise the competition.
The winner of the competition will take home ₵2 million at the end of the campaign.
