Renowned Ghanaian musician, songwriter and producer Akwaboah has revealed that he never grows weary of listening to his own music both the old hits and the latest releases.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on Thursday, September 11, 2025, Akwaboah explained that constantly listening to his own work helps him improve.
“I never get tired of listening to my own songs. I’m always listening to my own songs, both new ones and the old ones. I listen to correct mistakes so that I don’t repeat them,” he said.
When asked whether he had any regrets about certain songs, Akwaboah admitted that while his older songs still hold up well, he sometimes re-evaluates his newer projects.
“With the old ones, I don’t think so, but with the new ones I always go back to the drawing board. That’s basically it about music. Sometimes when you record a song and it sounds so sweet, you want to release it the next day. But after two weeks or a month, you may feel like changing something. That’s when you have to find the loopholes and correct them,” he explained.
According to him, it often takes two to three months before he revisits a song he once thought was perfect. If it doesn’t sound as good as it did before, he makes adjustments to refine it.
Akwaboah also revealed that some of his songs remain special to him regardless of time.
“He Me Bo and Hold Me Down came from a very special place, so I mostly listen to them,” he added.
