President John Mahama says he is optimistic about further deepening the bilateral and trade relations between Ghana and China during his tenure.
He said this will help bring the needed progress not only to Ghana but also to Africa as a whole.
He recalled the cordial relations between the two countries, which date back to the era of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and China’s leaders, Chairman Mao Zedong and Prime Minister Zhou Enlai, saying the relations have since been elevated to a strategic partnership.
The President expressed concern that global multilateralism is giving way to unilateralism in many countries.
He added that nations that believe in multilateralism must show solidarity with each other.
Mr. Mahama said this when he held bilateral discussions with the President of China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
He also acknowledged the tremendous efforts of President Xi in championing women’s issues.
