Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has extended heartfelt support to the bereaved families affected by the tragic boat accident on the River Oti, which claimed the lives of fifteen mourners.
During her visit on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the Vice President handed over a substantial package of relief items, to affirm the government’s commitment to standing by citizens during times of grief and hardship.
The donated items included: 200 life jackets, 4 bales of second-hand clothing, 70 cartons of cooking oil, 100 bags of rice, 10 cartons of soap, 100 bales of mosquito nets and a cash donation.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang also used the occasion to advocate for water transport safety, urging all boat passengers to wear life jackets to prevent future tragedies.
The Vice President’s visit brought comfort and reassurance to the affected families, many of whom are still mourning their loved ones.
