A fisherman at Tema Habour, Samuel Ashitey has disclosed that fishermen venture into the sea spiritually prepared, never setting out without proper preparation.
In an interview on Angel Focus, he shared that fishing isn’t just a physical endeavor, but also a spiritual one, where fishermen seek protection and guidance from their spiritual sources before heading out.
“We don’t just go fishing unprepared, we prepare ourselves spiritually before we go to the sea, this work is not done with just the ordinary physical abilities.
“If someone tells you that we go to sea with just our physical strength, tell the person he is a liar; we have pastors, mallams, dealers, each one of us have his source of protection,” he asserted.

He further revealed that some fishermen seek spiritual powers to increase their catch, employing rituals and spiritual means to attract fish and ensure a successful haul.
“We go for powers to be able to get more catches, we don’t just catch the fish with our strength, we call them with spirits.
“If you cast the net without any spiritual power backed by it, the fish will all escape so we perform rituals to the sea and grant what it requires in order for us to get good catches,” he uncovered.
