The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey has lamented that the old Driving from Port (DP) policy is causing loss of funds to the state and Authority at large.
In a discussion on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, he explained that the previous government established twelve companies, where these companies bypass DVLA and give out the DP plates to the agents.
He noted that, there are no scientific means to check the authenticity of the DP sticker to know whether it is from DVLA.
“ The authorities at the port doesn’t know which one is from DVLA because there is nothing to scan, we also loose money based on that,” Mr. Kotey stressed.
He further said that cabinet has given DVLA the approval to implement the use of new DP stickers at the port in which they’ve started full implementation of the program.
“I can boldly tell you that we did 14,701 DP stickers last month, an increase from 1,800,” Mr. Kotey told Saddick Adams.
