Paramount Chief of Anum Traditional Council, Akusiaku Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII has pledged to eradicate child marriage in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.
Speaking at a two-day capacity workshop organised by Obaapa Development Foundation in Anum, he highlighted his commitment to working with traditional leaders to end child marriage and ensure a better a future for the community’s children.
“I am trying to call upon all the leaders in my traditional area that we should all come on board to make sure that this child marriage issue comes to an end.
“We will not entertain it in our community at all; we have to create a future for our children and for that matter it is not negotiable that we have to make sure this thing works and work for good,” he affirmed.
He further promised to work his community to develop by-laws aimed at eliminating child marriage, which would be presented to the traditional council and the assembly man for approval and implementation.
